The count down is on...

Deck the Halls, it is officially the holiday season. There are 9 weeks until January 1st.

Fun fact: The average person gains 7 to 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ouch. Now add in the month from Halloween to Thanksgiving. Easily 10-15 pounds. Oof.

Here's how you are going to make it through.

  1. All the movement. Join a gym NOW, not in January. Park at the back of the parking lot and walk in. Take the stairs. Desk job? Set your timer and do 10 squats every hour…who cares if your cubicle neighbor sees your head bobbing up and down. Maybe they will join you.

  2. Make time for yourself. The in laws will be A.O.K. for an hour while you walk around the block, hit RPM, or the WOD. Good or bad news, they will be there when you get home and you will be a better person.

  3. Limit blue light and GO. TO. SLEEP. 7+ hours will make you nicer and feel better.

  4. Eat real food and limit alcohol. Plan ahead. Work party? Meal prep, keep snacks in your bags, and drink plenty of water. No one likes a hangry person, let alone a dehydrated hangry person.

  5. Find a community to rally behind you. Hire a coach, find a trainer, join a class, convince a neighbor. You don’t have to do this alone.

If you do anything this holiday season, give yourself the gift of health and wellness. You can get through the next 9 weeks without those extra pounds.

Happy Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas.
